Calling for submissions Lions Park Summer Concerts

The City of Kingston in joint partnership are looking for submissions for summer concerts at Lion’s Park. We have approximately 9 positions to fill and if funding permits a further 8. If you have a band or are a solo musician that would like to be considered for selection please download and fill out the following form and send via email to kingstonmusicians@gmail.com.

APPLICATION FOR LIONS CIVIC GARDENS 2017

The concerts are held at Lions Civic Gardens on two nights- Wednesday and Sunday, a Live Performance Contract is used and union rates under clause 1C Miscellaneous Engagements apply plus 3% pension (5% work dues). Temporary membership is a requirement. (Approx $6.50/musician). Please contact the office for further details on rates or go to the members page of this website.

We are looking for a variety of music: big bands, swing bands, children’s performers, country, light classical, variety, pop, ethnic, soloists. Submitting does not guarantee a placement funds are still in question so musicians will be contacted by the secretary to offer dates.

ORCHESTRA KINGSTON VACANCY

PRINCIPAL 2ND VIOLIN CHAIR
Orchestra Kingston is a 40 (+) member community orchestra located in Kingston, Ontario, approaching our 10th season of serving our community with 4 (or more) concerts per season. We are a Not-For-Profit registered Charity under the direction of a Board of Directors and employ a professional Music Director and several Principal chairs. We are currently searching to fill the Principal 2nd Violin position for the 2017/2018 season.
The candidate for this position will have achieved mastery in their field as a soloist, chamber musician and orchestral performer. The individual possesses interpretive skills and instincts developed through performance experience, inquisitiveness about what composers intended in their music, and a fundamental ability to relate that intent to musicians and audiences.
The candidate we hope to find will be a confident leader and mentor, willing to commit to weekly rehearsals, occasional dress rehearsals and will participate in 4 (or more) concerts each season.
Responsibilities include reviewing all music repertoire to be performed by the second violin section and provide bowings and general instructions to the section members.
Remuneration is $2000 for the 2017/2018 season (based on approximately 40 services).

General Meeting Notice

Kingston Musicians’ Union is holding its General Meeting on 26th March at 2pm. Meeting will be held at The Royale 2465 Princess St Kingston. Light refreshments, coffee and Tea will be provided and a cash bar will be open. Come along and hear about how your union is working for its members. Discussions on the summer activities, meeting your new board, learn about our pension fund, changes to our tariffs will all be on our agenda
